MARITIME EXERCISE KONKAN 16

  • The annual maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Royal British Navy, named “KONKAN 16” was started at December 5 at Mumbai
  • It was 16th edition of Bilateral maritime exercise between these countries
  • 2016 edition starts at December 5 and ends at December 16
  • KONKAN 16 was conducted at 2 phases
    • Phase 1 =from December 5 to 9, the exercise held at Mumbai

  • 2016 World Power Language Index was compiled by World Economic Forum
  • Top 3 languages = English, Mandarin Chinese and French
  • The top six languages are official languages of the United Nations. The remaining 4 in the top 10 include two other BRIC languages (Portuguese and Hindi) and 2 of the economic heavyweights (Germany and Japan).
  • Hindi is most primarily language spoken in India with a share of 41%. It is also the official language of Indian government.
