UNITED NATIONS APOLIGISES TO HAITI PEOPLES

  • United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki Moon officially apologized to the peoples of Haiti, for its role in the 2010 cholera outbreak in the country.
  • He stated, “On behalf of the United Nations, I want to say very clearly: We apologises to the Haitian people”.
  • In 2010, a Nepalese Peacekeepers from the UN will become the reasons for the spread of Cholera there.

HORNBILL FESTIVAL BEGINS IN NAGALAND

  • The World famous Hornbill Festival begins in Nagaland.
  • Hornbill Festival was celebrated every year first week of December in Nagaland
  • It was celebrated in Naga Heritage Village of Kisama area of Nagaland
  • Hornbill Festival is called as, “Festival of Festivals”

  • The Union Government has announced that Rakesh Asthana was appointed as the new Director to Central Bureau of Investigation.

DECEMBER 2, NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY

  • Every year December 2nd was celebrated as National pollution Control Day.
  • This day is observed in the memories of those who lost lives in 1984 due to the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and who were left severely affected due to leakage of poisonous gas, “Methyl Isocyanate” from Union Carbide Plant in Bhopal.

  • 2016 IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation) Awards will be announced.
  • 2016 IAAF Male Athlete of the Year Award goes to the Olympic Gold medalist Usain Bolt.

  • Persons who affected from Parkinson’s disease and those who are affected with acid attack survivors will soon come under disabled category by new laws.

  • Indian Astrophysicist Thanu Padhmanabhan has won his 10 year old challenge on dark matter.
  • He presented his idea on Dark Matter at the 23rd Texas Symposium on December 15, 2006.
  • At the time, every one rejects his idea and reported its wrong.
  • He challenged to everyone to prove his idea is wrong by next decade 2016.

  • American singer Katy Perry was honoured with the “Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Awards”, for her service, as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador at the UNICEF.
